ABOUT THE PROJECT

Music 4 Inclusion Project is co-founded by the European Union. The primary purpose of the project is to contribute to adult inclusion and integration through music by contributing to the social and cultural inclusion of people in need of getting used to living in a country with a different culture, language and norms other than their homelands. To achieve the goals of this project, playing music together and creating a common repertoire, including music from the receiving countries and the migrants’ own cultures, will be the core of the activities planned.

The project is carried out by Halewynstichting (Belgium) with the partner organisations Mind Hub (Belgium), Stichting Kunst en Cultuur Artpot (Netherlands) and Les Créatives de Demain (France).

OUTCOMES AND RESULTS

Music 4 Inclusion aims to serve as a good practice example by spreading the idea of an orchestra, composed of individuals from different backgrounds and countries. Within the scope, a training program, handbook and common repertoire will be produced. With the handbook which will be a significant output in adult education for social inclusion, it is intended to inspire music teachers, musicians, and professionals working in the field of music.

Producing a common repertoire from different cultures will enable the voices of immigrants and minorities to be heard within societies. Therefore, the Unified By Music Orchestra and the common repertoire will be tools for creating an environment where cultural exchange will take place, while fostering a sense of cultural communication.
